About The Show 15

Welcome to Let’s Talk Comics, a new podcast that aims to tell the origin stories of all your favorite creators in the comics industry. Everyone has a story and my goal is to show fans, aspiring creators and more how your idols came to be the people they are. I’m Jim Viscardi, formerly of Marvel Entertainment PR, and i’ll be your guide as we take this journey touching every corner of comics. We’ll talk to writers, artists, letterers, colorists, editors and more! If they have a part in making comics, we’re going to hear from them.

So please, if you haven’t already – TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

I loved your Remender interview. His Fear Agent really got me into indie comics and you just hosted an absolutely engrossing podcast. I actually had a creator suggestion I wanted to throw out there. His name was mentioned briefly in the podcast. But that would be Rafael Albuquerque. His reinvigoration of Vampires alongside Scott Snyder, his entry into American comics from Brazil and through an Egyptian publishing company sound like an absolute blast to here especially since like Remender he keeps a balance between the creator owned and mainstream work. Plus it’s a chance to hear from someone that the American comic outlets rarely interview. I look forward to here your podcasts going forward.

So glad I read about Let’s Talk Comics over at Bleeding Cool. I’ve always been a fan of the long-form interview and feel there are too few out there (nod to Word Balloon here).
I thought you picked a great first guest and facilitated a very entertaining show. Can’t wait to hear who you’ve got for future episodes. Also interested in hearing more about your take on things – yours is perhaps an inside view not many other “hosts” can draw from.
Subscribing is a no-brainer 🙂 Best of luck!

This podcast has been a monumentally useful tool for, not only inspiration, but practicality. These dues are giving away ridiculous info for free. It’s nuts, man. James, I can’t thank you enough for spending the time (and money) on putting this together for us. You’re the bomb, man. Keep it up!

Hey thanks Casey! Glad you’re digging it. This show is for fans like you! Tell all your friends about it! (and if you havent already – leave a review on iTunes!)

I agree, every episode is great inspiration if nothing else, even if it is wise words about drawing (as I’m a writer) it is still enlightening to hear from the guys (and Kelly Sue) who I enjoy every week. Great job! Hope to be a guest some day!

This is really a great sharing place. I just finish listen the Mike Deadato episode. Feeling awesome. Glad to know about artist mindset, life, experience. Good inspiration. Can’t wait to listen the rest of episode!!!

Creator Suggestion: Otis Frampton. Just had his creator-owned “Oddly Normal” all-ages comic picked up by Image (first issue coming in September). Would be interesting to hear about a big break as it is happening.

I really loved your Kelly Sue Deconnick & Skottie Young podcasts. I would like to suggest having Jamie McKelvie on the podcast. I would love to hear that origins story.

I am a “new” author in that even though my 3rd book comes out in a couple months (December) the Colorworld Book Series is very much under the radar, and so am I as an author!

How do you pick your guests for the podcasts? Do you review books?

Before you jump up and down and say “YES!”, feel free to check out the stuff I have out:

    Talk to you soon,

Great show, love the long interviews, looking forward to Scott Snyder’s PT 2 interview. Do you think you’ll ever have either Marcos Martin or Paolo Rivera on? Or both?

  • A. David Lewis

Your show is terrific, and I would love to chat with Jim and the team about my upcoming book: AMERICAN COMIC BOOKS, LITERARY THEORY, AND RELIGION: THE SUPERHERO AFTERLIFE (http://www.amazon.com/American-Comics-Literary-Theory-Religion/dp/1137465603 or http://www.palgrave.com/page/detail/american-comics-literary-theory-and-religion-a-david-lewis/?K=9781137465603). The book has been endorsed by Mark Waid & J.M. DeMatteis and comes out this November. If you’d be interested, I’d be happy to provide an advance digital copy of it for you to peruse as we discuss a potential interview time. Much thanks!

    Hi Jim,

Love the show! I thoroughly enjoy the in depth conversations you get into with your guests.

Not sure if you are in the market for guest suggestions, but I would love to hear from Jen Gruenwald, or someone on the trade department from Marvel or DC on how series or runs are decided on to collected, what format, etc. I think that would be an interesting topic to cover.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi, my name is Todd, and I’m the writer/creator of a comic called Guardians. I’ve heard about your podcast before, and I was wondering if may be possible to come on the show as a guest sometime. I’d love to talk about comics, and how I got started making mine, and whatever else you’d like to talk about.

If this may be a possibility, feel free to contact me via the email I typed above. Thank you for your time.
